• What kind of COVID test is required for TALOFAPASS?
    • All TALOFAPASS Covid testing requires the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) or as it is more commonly known, a "PCR" test to be taken.
    • "Rapid" or "Antigen" based tests do NOT qualify for TALOFAPASS.

  • How many PCR tests do I need to take?
    • For all flights to American Samoa thru the end of May 2022:  All TALOFAPASS travelers will be required to take two PCR tests, each with a negative/not detected result in order to be approved to depart on their flight (also see detailed summary of TALOFAPASS travel process).
      • The first PCR  test is taken 5 days prior to your departure date to American Samoa and can be taken at any location nearest to you.
      • The second PCR  test is taken 48 hours prior to your departure date to American Samoa and must be taken in Honolulu.
        • *It is highly recommended to take the 48 hour test at the Capture Ala Moana testing facility (appointments can be made in TALOFAPASS) as results are typically processed in 12 hours.  Other locations cannot guarantee this timeframe and you will risk not getting your result in time, thus not being able to board the flight.
        • *Testing results from Capture Ala Moana are automatically uploaded into TALOFAPASS, whereas results from other testing locations must be uploaded into TALOFAPASS manually by the traveler.
    • For all flights to American Samoa after June 1, 2022:
      • All TALOFAPASS travelers will be required to take one PCR test taken no earlier than 3 days before your departure date.
      • This test can be taken anywhere in the Unites States and must have a negative/not detected result in order to be approved to depart on their flight (also see detailed summary of June TALOFAPASS travel process).
